We are delighted to welcome Qin Xu to the Te Ārai community.

Qin’s doctoral research, Investigating Decision-Making in Advanced Cancer Patients and their Intergenerational Relations in Palliative Care, will explore how family relationships influence decision-making for people living with advanced cancer.

Decision-making in palliative care is often shaped by the people closest to us. Family members can play a significant role in discussions about treatment, care preferences, and future planning. Qin's research seeks to better understand these intergenerational relationships and how they influence the experiences of patients and families navigating advanced illness.

Through her work, Qin aims to contribute to more person- and family-centred palliative care by generating evidence that can support clinical practice and improve outcomes for patients and their families.
