Thank You, Frankie to the Rescue

We're incredibly grateful to Frankie to the Rescue for their support of our Paediatric Palliative Care Education programme and all the work they do for children and families navigating serious illness.

Created in memory of Frankie, whose love of all things rescue inspired its name, Frankie to the Rescue provides practical support to families of children receiving palliative care through Starship in Auckland and Nurse Maude in Christchurch. Their work includes hospital parking vouchers, meal delivery vouchers, gifts for children and parents, and their much-loved "present boxes" for children on the Oncology and Neurology wards at Starship. These boxes allow nurses to create personalised gift bagsfor children who need a little extra comfort during difficult times.

During our education course, participants discussed resources that can help children and families navigate emotions, illness and grief. Thanks to the generosity of Frankie to the Rescue and its supporters, we were able to provide books and wellbeing resources to the paediatric team at Taranaki Base Hospital, who will share them with families in their care.
