Congratulations Jintana!
PhD student Jintana Thepsaw
Te Ārai PhD student JIntana Thepsaw successfully completed her provisional year confirmation review this morning. She delivered a fantastic presentation about her project exploring experiences of children’s nurses providing intercultural palliative care to children and their whānau. Her supervisor’s are Gemma Aburn, Deborah Raphael and Merryn Gott.
Jintana is a talented photographer and is going to use photovoice as one of her methods of data collection. She shared some pictures she had taken about her experience of providing palliative care for a child in Thailand to describe how using images can aid our understanding of complex issues. There was a lot of interest in this approach and positive feedback about her work to date which has included a qualitative systematic review. She is hoping to use her findings to support the provision of culturally safe intercultural palliative care for children and their whānau and families in Aotearoa. We can’t wait to see what she finds!
Jintana has a Master’s of Nursing Science in Paediatric Nursing at Mahidol University and has worked as a registered nurse in the PICU at Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University where she cared for critically ill children, including those requiring end-of-life care. She has also worked as a lecturer for almost seven years and has extensive experience in nursing education, including palliative care.
